Previously a monarchy, Nepal is now a federal democratic republic.
Seventy five percent or three-fourths of Nepal's population are dependent only on agriculture, which accounts for 38% of its GDP. Most industries are also agriculture based. The other major source of income comes from tourism and hydropower.
